Set Up

FastDirect does complete set up.

            Report card layout based on existing report card.

Complete grade book set up including:

Class rosters.

Grade scales by course.

Instructor assignment.


Integration with other Components

The grade book entries automatically print to:

            The teacher's Internet bulletin board (complete directions or evaluation information                         can be added).

            The teacher's Internet calendar.

            The student’s unique assignment calendar.


Grade Book Entries

The instructor may enter:

            Letter grades

            Score – The system automatically calculates the percentage and grade                        based on the maximum score possible. (i.e. a score of 23 correct on a  25                       word spelling test will come to a 100% / A).

            Percentages


Grade Book Averaging

The grade book function supports many grading systems of teachers.       

            Category Weighting

            Cumulative score:  A point system that assigns a point value to each                        assignment.

No Category weighting with single event weighting (a particular assignment   or              test may be 5 times as important).

            Extra Credit, can be dropped, not for grade plus comments.


Grade Annotations

The instructor may enter a note by a particular grade for a student (i.e. “Didn’t finish,”                         “Study times tables,” “Very neat.”).
(Note:  These notes are viewable by parents if grade book view is enabled.)


Grade Book Reports

            Full Report

                        Shows current grade average.

                        Lists all grading events in each subject for the student.

                        Lists scores by categories (test, homework, etc.).

                        Shows how scores are averaged.

            One line per event

                        Shows current grade average.

                        Lists all grading events in each subject for the student.

            One line per course

                        Shows current grade average.

                        Proficiency report (available soon).


Report Cards

The layout and format is customized for each school including color Logos, Themes, etc.

 

Teacher may:

            Import grade average from the grade book.

            Manually enter a grade.

            Manually adjust a grade average imported from the grade book.

 

Grade field accepts up to 5 characters so school may enter grades, percents, scores,             etc (i.e. A+, 94.7%, 10/14, A-*,).

 

Report Cards may include:

            Semester and final grades.

            GPA (as a percent average or grade point average).

            Note: the school controls The GPA calculation.

            Attendance (absence, tardy, Left during school day).

            Course Subcategories or lists of standards, proficiencies, or effort.

            Comments (The system automatically notes which teacher wrote the                         comment and to which course the comment relates.)

            Grade placement for the next school year.

            Honor roll.
 

Report Card Printing

The homeroom teacher, the school office, or the student’s parent, may print report card.

            Printing in landscape or portrait.

            Report card print out may include color.


Report Card Screen

The report card display screen includes “hot buttons”:

            Click on “Attendance” to view attendance by day.

            Click on “Comments” to see comments from previous quarters.


Report Card Integrity

            The principal locks all grades once a quarter is finished to protect against                   grade changes once the report card has been published.

            Report cards may be printed from previous years. (Archive)
